It is best to take your pet's photo outdoors in bright shade or
hazy sunshine.  Get down so the photo is taken from the eye
level of your pet, don't get too close - About  3 - 4 feet is a good
distance away.  Using a zoom lens enables you to concentrate
on the face without being too intrusive.

Try to capture your pet's eyes, as the eyes play a very important
part in a portrait. Don't stand above your pet and look down as it
distorts the picture, and don't use a flash.  It might alter the
coloring of your pet.   Have someone with you to distract your pet
while you take the pictures.  Fill the whole viewfinder with the
animal's head and shoulders. The head turned at a slight angle
is usually better than a full-frontal view.

Send us your best pictures.  The more pictures you send the
better.  Please remember to point out which image you would like
painted, and the artist will let you know if it is suitable.
